PIRATES AHOY ! EXTERNAL WEBSITE

We have two fully authentic very salty pirates called Captain Mad Dog & Boatswain Becky... they will anchor at your school for the day and turn your able pupils into scurvy pirates!

What you get:
1. All Aboard: 25 min. assembly performance with story-telling, live painting and music for the whole school.
2. The Crew: pupils get given pirate names and tattoos.
3. Ship Shape Game: lots of running around; learning parts of the ship and ship terminology.
4. Mad Dog Sea Shanty: they will be taught a pirate song and dance. This will be filmed for school and given as a DVD.
5. Treasure Hat: we provide all the materials for an art workshop – the young shipmates will create a secret map hidden inside the pirate hat.
6. A Pirate’s Life: a drama workshop where pupils act out typical pirate roles on board ship.
7. Pirate for a day: All pupils (and staff!) invited to dress up as pirates and have a crew photo.

The Welsh flag comes to life!
Draig Goch – [Yrs 5 – 6 – one class for the whole day]

Here the Welsh flag truly comes to life! This is the Classic Welsh Myth and legend unleashed in song, story and art.

What you get:
1. Mabinogi Ddraig: we start the day with an all age full assembly performance of a dynamic, interactive telling of the dragon tale with live art and music.
2. Song workshop: ‘Y Gan Merlin’ - the pupils learn, perform, and record the Merlin rap in Welsh and English.
3. Medieval Manga: pupils design, draw and colour images for the song video.

School Anthem with a difference!
Never Give Up – Daliwch Ati [Yrs 5-6 working with 2 classes for whole day]
ANTHEM DRAIG EXTERNAL WEBSITE

Using the story of the Welsh dragon as inspiration we take the phrase ‘never give up’ – ‘daliwch ati’ and use it as a springboard to write lyrics for a school anthem. We then record on site with a bilingual backing track and create art to make a unique music DVD.

What you get:
1. Lyric workshop: here the pupils work in groups to mindmap their ideas and explore relevant issues (i.e. respecting others, racism, faith etc.), to take a creative look at the school ethos, and to build team dynamics, they then work in smaller groups to write their lyrics.
2. Singing and recording: Once the teachers have chosen the verses the pupils rehearse, perform and record their anthem to a pre-recorded backing track.
3. Illustration: we then work with the same group to draw and colour Manga style illustrations to go with the recording in making a music DVD.
